Reward for Trapdoor Springfield Rifle #406731

I'm am trying to track down a Springfield Trapdoor #406731, one of 9,060 model 1884 rifles made Apr-Jun 1888. This rifle was my great-grandfather's in the first part of the last century, and I'm not sure what happened to it. I'm offering a $$ reward just to know the location of the rifle. I'd like to purchase it, if possible, but that is not necessary for the reward. It's not a particularly collectible rifle, but it has sentimental value for me.

The rifle is marked "U.S. MODEL 1873" and "406731" on the receiver, and "U.S. SPRINGFIELD" on the lock plate. The cartouche on the wood is dated 1888.

The hammer appears to be a replacement, and most internal lock parts (all but the tumbler and sear spring/screw) were missing the last time I saw it.

If you have any information on this rifle, please let me know!
